Art and Creativity Program
“Children who are taught art learn that they are not empty inside—that they always have inner resources to draw on and that they can create something out of nothing.”
- Leslie Temple-Thurston, Seeds of Light Founder
All levels of Art classes are taught at the New Dawn Centre in Acornhoek with learners from 4 years old to young adults.
We also bring art and creativity into all of our Seeds of Light projects and conduct workshops for all ages.
Art ignites creativity, builds confidence, and gives every young person a voice.
In our art program, our goal is to inspire young minds to dream, create, and shine through the power of artistic expression.
Our after-school Art and Creativity Program aims to empower children with a creative outlet for self-expression. Through art, they can share their experiences, navigate challenges, and find healing, inspiration, and hope for a brighter future.
We have watched our class participant's skills and creative expression blossom as they grow in their ability and explore different art mediums and techniques. And all of our learners show noticeable gains in confidence and a greater ability to engage with life in a positive and meaningful way.
To learn that they can always find a creative solution to life's many challenges in Acornhoek is a crucial life skill—not only to develop a sense of personal fulfilment but also for the future sustainability of the community.
Trips to Koru Camp, Kruger Park, The Hoedspruit Snake Park, The Timbavati Foundation and other incredible opportunities in our area are conducted whenever possible to engage in new environments, learn about plants and animals and gain inspiration for art.
Long Term Vision
Creativity becomes a natural way of thinking and living, unlocking joyful engagement and deeper self-expression. This growth fosters confidence, empowerment, and expanded opportunities across academic, social, career, and personal realms—contributing to a fuller, more abundant life.
Short Term Vision
A spark of joy for creativity is ignited and participants integrate creative thinking into their daily lives. They see more possibilities and apply new thinking processes across their home, school and social settings.
“When kids create, they grow. When they express, they thrive. Art shapes more than pictures—it shapes futures."
