Art and Creativity

Art ignites creativity, builds confidence, and gives every child a voice. In our youth art program, we inspire young minds to dream, create, and shine through the power of artistic expression.

The Art and Creativity Program aims to empower children with a creative outlet for self-expression. Through art, they can share their experiences, navigate challenges, and find healing, inspiration, and hope for a brighter future.

Saturday Girls

The Seeds of Light Saturday Girls’ Education Program provides high school girls an opportunity to develop leadership, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills, as well as emotional intelligence and self-confidence. They are exposed to topics that broaden their view and understanding of the world - both locally and globally.

The results are young women who are empowered to improve family and community relationships and to create a better and more abundant future for themselves and their communities.

They are our heart-centered leaders of the future ready to make a difference.

After School Meal Program

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Yet, in many rural communities across South Africa, food insecurity and malnutrition remain critical challenges, impacting children’s health, development, and future potential.

More than a decade ago, TryGive and Suzan established a community garden to help address these issues. Today, their initiative has grown and includes the After-School Meal Program, providing over 250 children with a hot, nutritious meal each day.

Reading and Literacy

At Seeds of Light, we are passionate about nurturing a lifelong love of reading. Our classes are engaging, interactive, and designed to make learning enjoyable, fostering meaningful connections between children, their peers, and facilitators.

We know that when children develop strong language skills, expand their vocabulary, and build comprehension from an early age, they gain the confidence and ability to excel in school and beyond.

A solid foundation in literacy unlocks future opportunities, empowering them to thrive academically and in life.

Scouting

The Cubs and Scouts program offers at-risk children and teenagers an after-school development program providing life skills that improve their ability to become successful adults in a difficult environment.

This powerful program brings a huge sense of self-confidence and pride as they learn many useful skills and are recognized by their peers and leaders.

Started in 2015 at the Ekurhuleni Drop-in Center, there are now two groups meeting at Ekurhuleni Drop-in Centre and Trygive and Suzan’s Community Garden.
